Today I read an article that Michael Clouse posted in his newsletter by Jim Rohn entitled “Four Steps to Success.” It really went along with my thoughts this week about this concept of blogging. Not only are we able to provide footprints along our business journey, but our personal journey as well.

Here is an excerpt from the article and the first step of success …

“The first step to success is become a collector of good ideas… My mentor taught me to keep a journal when I was just twenty-five years old, I took that advice, and one day those journals will be passed on to my children and then to my grandchildren.

When you learn a good health, wealth, business, or lifestyle idea, write it down. Then on a cold wintry evening go back through your journals and rediscover the ideas that changed your life, the ideas that saved your marriage, the ideas that bailed you out of bankruptcy, the ideas that helped you become successful, the ideas that made you millions… What a good review—going back over the collection of ideas that you gathered over the years. So become a collector of good ideas for your business, for your relationships, for your life.”

How fun it will be to look back years from now and see what ideas were important to me at any given time. What were the concepts that molded my thoughts and beliefs and directed my actions. What were the important milestones along my travels.

As I was journalizing the success story of my young daughter, I thought about how neat it will be for her to one day read back over my blog with the many entries about her journey as a young girl growing up and providing her mother with some great writing ideas. I have always wanted to be a good teacher to my children. And I can’t think of a better way to share my knowledge with them than to leave this legacy of my thoughts.

I hope one day they will have a good understanding of who their mother was and what she wanted to become. I hope they take this legacy and then pass it onto their children as well.
