The government and the media are constantly talking about the dangers of the Swine Flu and their frantic attempts to get you vaccinated.

But do you know what is really much more dangerous to the business owner than the Swine Flu — Excusitis.

What is Excusitis? This is the malady of making excuses and trying to explain why you can’t. Excusitis is a major reason for failure in business.

Have you got this ailment or have you vaccinated yourself against it?

Successful people don’t make excuses … period. They welcome challenges. They don’t hide behind justifications of why things are tough. They accept responsibility. They become successful in spite of the obstacles. They believe in their abilities, not their disabilities.

The cure.

• Make a commitment to JUST DO IT, despite the problem. The DECISION to inoculate yourself from Excusitis is the first step. You must produce immunity to this success robbing disease.
• Develop positive thinking. Concentrate on your assets and what you CAN do. Learn to see what can be, not what is. Don’t limit yourself to your current situation. See the potential and possibilities.
• Discover ways to effectively manage your challenges. Become a problem solver. Be creative in finding ways around the difficulties.
• Don’t focus on the trivial things. Keep your focus on the big picture and the outcomes of what you are trying to achieve with your business. Once your success has been achieved, you’ll realize that it was all worth it and be grateful that you moved forward regardless.
• Seek support. Ask for help. Find a mentor who has been through some of the same challenges as you. Learn what they did to eliminate the excuses and move onto success.

Nothing worthwhile comes easy. A successful home business takes a conscious decision to be successful. Being successful means getting rid of the excuses.
