Free Yourself from Email

You may have noticed I haven’t posted much this month. I got sick with a dumb cough – that has now lasted for three weeks. So it has taken a lot out of me, and I have been able to do only the essentials of my business. Not that this blog isn’t essential, just that my creative juices don’t flow freely when my head hurts.
One day while sick, I got so sick of all the email that was piling up in my inbox. I made the decision, or maybe I just acted spontaneously, and unsubscribed from what seemed like the million of emails I get on a daily basis.
If you have ever listened to Big Al’s Secret Language of Prospects, you will know what I mean when I say I am a Green. My nature tends to be very detail oriented, information gathering, don’t miss the nitty-gritty. So when I get a newsletter or report or blog post, I feel compelled to read it – all of it. Cause boy, what would happen if I were to miss some vital bit of information. As you can imagine, that practice can become overwhelming and before you know it email is taking over your life.
So a week after my hasty unsubscribing frenzy, I can’t tell you how freeing it feels to have a manageable inbox. The best part is the lack of worry or anxiety of not getting through it all. There’s no more of “when I get time, I really should read that, cause I don’t want to miss anything.” Well, if it isn’t in my inbox, I don’t know what I am missing. And that works pretty good for this new uncluttered mindset.
It’s amazing how much I got accomplished today cause I didn’t have to read through three thousand emails. And that feels pretty amazing.
Now as I am an internet network marketer, email is essential to my home business. Couldn’t live or work without it. It’s my life line to my team. But filtering out the mega subscriptions that I no longer find value in definitely frees up my time to spend on the people and issues that I do value.
So I challenge you — is it time that maybe you get sick and tired of the clutter and make a decision to clean out some of it?
Now that my inbox is empty, feel free to post your comments on how email impacts your daily business life.

I did the same thing a while back(massive unsubscribing) and it did lighten the load a bit.
I think as a New Year’s Resolution I may limit myself to “x” number of newsletters(haven’t picked a number yet).
Take care and enjoy the freedom from”Info Overload”
Denison 19 Nov 2009 at 10:32 am 2Great Point Here. I have so many emails in my Inbox that is crazy.. And also, must of the newsletter subscriptions that I get, I delete the emails as soon as I get them whitout reading then, so might as well unsubscribe and not waste time even deleting them..
I also do what you say here, don’t delete some to get to them later, but then never do..
I will work on that this week for sure..
Thanks
Denis

Then, I check email 3 more times before bed. Again, never more than 20 minutes each time.
So, I spend no more than 1 1/2 hours a day on email.
It works well for me. Also, gets me UP and MOVING, has relieved neck and back pain — I feel much better with not so much time in the desk chair, looking at this monitor!

Now, I know that I can do the same thing….If my sponsor does it, then it must be safe for me to do also!
Now, I will have more time for cold calls……and me!
