One of my favorite books is “Go For No!: YES, is the destination, NO is how you get there” by Richard Fenton and Andrea Waltz.
This book really changed my mindset on how I view failure and the concept of rejection when hearing the word no. It is a book I highly recommend to my coaching partners. It’s a short 80 page book but packs so much powerful information.
The most poignant realization for me was when they described the Failure / Success Model. They diagram this concept like this …
It is incorrect to believe that one must move toward success and away from failure.
SUCCESS <– <– <– ME –> –> –> FAILURE
But rather the correct model is one where failure is the halfway mark on the road to success, not a destination to be avoided but rather a stepping stone to get what I really want in life.
ME –> –> –> FAILURE –> –> –> SUCCESS
Success is not in the opposite direction but is straight ahead!
So I was thrilled to see this movie trailer announcing the upcoming Go for No Movie! Check out the trailer and this previous post I did last year by a business partner of mine, she did a fabulous job of describing the Go For No Philosophy! And the author agreed, check out the comment she left.
Then do me a favor and leave me a comment if you have read this book and how it has impacted YOUR life.

Its simple insights like these that can cause a complete mental shift.

When we realize the Nos aren’t about us personally, then it makes it a lot easier to GO after the Nos and not make every attempt to avoid them. You have probably heard the statement, “Failure is not an option.” Well, when you look at it this way, you realize that it must be an option, it’s PART of the process, you don’t get to that ultimate success without going through the failure. So embrace it, cause look at what’s on the other side!

What an inspiration to know that every ‘no’ moves you toward the next yes, that can truly help you drive through discouragement.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on ‘Go for No’, Cathy!
