Have you heard all the talk about the book “Go For No!” by Richard Fenton and Andrea Waltz. I highly recommend this quick read and think it should be mandatory reading. It is only 76 pages but could easily change your mindset about how to run your business, thus change your outcomes, thus change your life.

I love their subtitle “Yes is the destination, No is how you get there.” The acceptance of that statement alone can be profound for your business. It tells you that you can’t not only avoid the Nos, but that they are necessary for you to get to where you want to be.

So many times I hear from business partners that the reason their business has come to a standstill is the fear of rejection. But when you can change how you view rejection and the impending sense of failure, everything in your business can change. You need to not only accept but embrace getting those Nos as, not only inevitable, but necessary to finding your success.

Fenton and Waltz do a wonderful job of showing that it is not an either / or situation. You don’t have either failure or success. No, it is much more linear than that. One must pass through failure to get to success. One doesn’t come without the other.

I think of the stories of some very successful entrepreneurs, athletes, and politicians. Do you know that Walt Disney got fired for not having enough creativity? That he went through numerous bankruptcies before creating the theme park of his dreams, Disneyland. Do you know that Babe Ruth struck out 1,330 times while setting the home run record of 714? Do you know that Abraham Lincoln lost eight of ten elections before winning the presidency?

So, what sets these individuals apart? A willingness to fail. You see the one that fails the most, is also the one that succeeds the most. They never let the failures stop them, they always pressed on. They viewed each troubled incident as just a stepping stone to their destination.

Thomas Edison was known to have said, “I didn’t fail to invent the light bulb 10,000 times, I simply discovered 10,000 ways that it does not work.” He viewed all those failures as his successes. They brought him to where he needed to be.

So, like Edison, don’t try to avoid the failure or the Nos, go out of your way to “Go for No.” Make that your goal. They suggest you don’t focus on results-oriented goals, but rather focus on behavior-oriented goals. You have probably heard me coach many times that we can’t necessarily control the outcome, but we can always control the actions we take. So set goals that reflect the amount of action you will take consistently, regardless of what the outcome will be, as a result the successes will naturally follow.

This book is a must read, not only for Network Marketers, but for every man, woman and child that wants to find success in whatever they pursue. Get the book here http://www.Nexera.com Then be sure to share with me what your No Goals are.
