Hi and welcome to my blog, “Coaching the Dream.”

I have been working exclusively from home now for six years and living my dream of being a full time mother AND a successful mentor and coach to other business owners.  I am blessed to be “Coaching the Dream” and sharing what I have learned that allows me to have the flexibility and freedom to live the life I desire and not one determined for me by someone else.  As I am achieving my goals, my desire is now to show you how to “Light Your Dream.”

This blog will empower you with home business education, training, and coaching.  You’ll find powerful business building tips, practical information on time management, money management, and goal setting. I’ll coach you through the potential of mindset, personal development, and dream building, as well as share inspirational stories of my journey.

My Professional Background:
I spent twelve years as a teacher / employment coach for adults with mental illness and developmental disabilities.  It was my passion to assist these individuals in achieving a purposeful life through community integration. My greatest role was being a mentor to them, as well as the staff who supported them.

I then moved into the position of Employment and Training Counselor for the County Human Services for two years. I assisted low income and unemployed individuals to overcome barriers in order to secure and retain employment. This role allowed me to see the potential in individuals who just needed someone to believe in them.

So for fourteen years, I was involved in changing people’s lives, an opportunity I was extremely grateful for.

My Inspiration:
Then in January 2003, my life changed when our second child, a daughter, was born after eight long years of waiting. She is our miracle baby and blesses us each day with her presence. What a joy!

I knew after seeing that pretty little face, with those big brown eyes, that I could not return to full-time work outside the home. I was tired of having a boss tell me what my hours should be, how much money I could make, and otherwise controlling my destiny. I knew I needed to be home to raise my children. Thus, I began my search for work I could do from home.

The Bumps in the Road:
I wasn’t sure what my purpose in life was. It took some exploring and soul searching. I had spent eight years on a very emotional and trying journey to have our daughter, so my primary focus was being a mom. Yet, I knew I needed to contribute to the family finances. But I couldn’t allow a career to take me away from my precious family.

I didn’t immediately find the right fit for me in a home business. I tried three other Direct Sales / Network Marketing companies, but couldn’t find the success I was after. I needed to decide what sacrifices I was willing to make to find the success I thought I wanted. It was apparent that I needed to DECIDE, then be willing TO DO.

As I have already mentioned, I have a passion for teaching, but more importantly I am an eager and dedicated student. I knew that if I wanted to have more and do more, I needed to become more. I brought what I learned from each of those “not so successful” professional experiences into who and what I am today. I learned to see failure not as something to be avoided, but as something that needed to be part of my path to success. These trials were stepping stones to the life I wanted.

What I Needed in a Home Business:
I wanted to find a ground floor opportunity that had a consumable, quality product that people really would buy, a management team with integrity who would always make decisions with the distributor’s best interest at heart, and a reliable team that would be there for ongoing training and support.

I knew I loved the internet and had a passion for mentoring others. I knew that if I could find a way to coach others to define their dreams and then excitedly go after them, I would have a career that would become my life’s work. Thus, the creation of this home business coaching blog.

And today:
I am living my dream. I am an accomplished home business owner, success coach, and internet marketer / blogger. I get goose bumps when I hear my coaching clients passionately share their desires for a better life — dreams they want to accomplish. And I get the privilege of helping them do just that.

I am blessed to have a large team of very motivated and talented individuals that have propelled us to the top leadership positions within our company. Because of my intense desire to help as many people as I can, I have been named a company Top Ten Sponsor for the last four years.

Let’s Accomplish the Dream Together:
I hope you will accompany me on my journey of “Coaching the Dream.” My desire is to coach you to achieve the life of your dreams and reach YOUR full potential. Be sure to join my newsletter in order to receive even more home business education, training, and coaching.

    Cathy,

I loved the blog and I also love to write. I believe that anyone who dares to step out of their comfort zone and leave doubt and fear behind them, will ultimately find the true joy and peace they so desire.

Reading your comments reminded me of the same feelngs I have experienced as a captive life insurance agent! I too got tired of being told when to come and when to go and what I could not do. Now, I am able to do what I desire to serve others with my independant new business. The joy and encouragement that comes from others is a true pleaseure.

Thanks for the invitation to read your blog. You can add me to your subscription also.

I look forward to reading more of your inspiration and I am considering being a guest blogger. I have not done it before but I think that I would like to try it and see what fruit may come to my new candle business!

    Thanks and Wealthy Regards!

    Cathy,

I enjoyed your post today. I feel like it would be inspirational to some of my followers on Twitter; but being new to this kind of thing, I am not sure how to go about it. Can you advise me?

I am currently in a holding pattern as far as developing a business, but I am using my time caring for my disabled wife by learning all I can about internet marketing. Not having achieved success in business probably disqualifies me as a potential guest blogger at this time. I do enjoy writing and building relationships with other budding entrepreneurs.

If you can respond, please note that I am currently switching over to gmail from yahoo. You may find that I am listed as an associate (or whatever your term is for those who are not full-fledged distributors.

    Cathy,

After reading your blog, it leaves me with the feeling of one who is honest and genuinely sincere about wanting to help others. I especially appreciate the way you shared your learning lessons. Telling how you perservered through the failures and followed your gut and heart, proves that you are an example of one who can lead others to do the same.

I enjoyed it, well written and great photos!
