Here’s another lesson from the ‘mouths of babes.’ I think God put 5 year olds on this earth, not for us to teach them, but for them to teach us. Boy, the things I learn or are reminded of by my precious little one.
My 5 year old daughter is trying to blow a bubble with her piece of gum. She has been at it for a solid 15 minutes. I myself am loosing focus and interest in the ‘game.’ I ask, “How long you gonna keep at that?” Her enlightened response, “Until I get it!” Like, duh.
I thought wow, what a bright lil’ girl, until she gleefully skipped off to find Daddy to help her. I asked her, “What do you think Daddy is gonna do?” She exclaims with such assuredness, “Daddy knows EVERYTHING.” Hmmm. That’s where I had to question (of course only to myself) how bright she really was. Just kidding.
So when someone starts to question your determination and suggest that maybe you should just give it up because your task is obviously gonna take a lot of focus and perseverance, think of the five year who has no plans to quit until she gets it! My wish for you is that you acquire that same doggedness.
