“We must choose hope over fear!”

Well, I have to say one of the benefits of running my own business from home is the ability for me to choose whether I will watch TV all day or actually work. Today, I chose to watch TV. Today, Barack Obama was sworn in as our 44th President of the United States.
Wow, what an incredible scene. MILLIONS of people made their way to Washington DC to see this historic event unfold. I don’t think I have ever seen so many people gathered in one location, ever. And what is so powerful about this scene — it was multi generational, multi cultural, and multi economic status.
This day is about hope and aspirations — you could see it in the faces of those that stood out in the cold and massive crowds and you heard it in Pres Obama’s inaugural speech. As I listened live to him address America and the World – this statement stood out so profoundly for me.
“We must choose hope over fear!”
Without hope the people perish. One witnessing this celebration could easily believe that nothing is impossible … when there is hope.
Secondly, I am so proud to be an American. There is nothing more powerful than watching the peaceful transfer of power. There may be a lot wrong with America, but one of our greatest characteristics is that one man can physically embrace another and amicably turn over the control of a nation with a handshake. I got teary eyed when I saw the ceremonial departure of Pres Bush and the entrance of our newest President, Pres Obama. What an incredible display of democracy and good will.

I believe that America CAN do just that — because we WILL choose hope over fear — because we are Americans — because that is our character!
