Recently I was asked by a new business partner
what I did to make my home business take off -- how was I achieving the success in network marketing
that I am experiencing. And with very little forethought this was my answer to her.
To start, I had to give up some of my fear.
I jumped right into doing a Home Business Expo
even though I had never done such an event before. And as a result of eagerly sharing my new product,
I got my first business partner.
I put a web decal on my van -- which meant I had to tell
people what I was doing and not be embarrassed by it. And as a result of showing my commitment, I got
another business partner.
I insisted that gifts leaving my home would be one of my
products. And got another business partner from a satisfied consumer.
I had to give up some of my disappointment when things didn't
work out as I planned. I learned and took from each experience that I initially saw as a failure. I had
to cut my pouting to a minimum. These situations often ultimately resulted in a tangent success that I wasn't
expecting.
I had to let go that my friends weren't going to be all that supportive.
They do buy some products from me -- but they don't have the enthusiasm for my business that I thought they should.
So I learned to move on.
I developed a personal website and took a class to optimize it
in the search engines. I use the tools we have created to attract leads, such as the business ecourse, the business
presentation CD, my newsletter, the free product drawing, and free internet reports. I use an autoresponder to
dispense these tools that turn possibilities thinkers into potential business partners at my website.
I participate in the team advertising coops EVERY month --- even when the
last month didn't seem to produce anything for me. Most of my team has come from this avenue. And they may have come
months after the initial contact. So I would not have the sales team I have, had I quit after one unsuccessful month.
I have an autoresponder that continues to follow up with people, cause we
all know success is in the follow up. I have had partners join me a year after we first talked --- cause the timing is
right for them NOW. Imagine how much I would miss out on if I wasn't here to see the fruit of the seeds I had planted
long ago.
For the first several months, I listened to EVERY Monday and Saturday
team and corporate training calls conducted by those achieving what I wanted --- and to this day I hardly ever miss a
Monday night team call.
I read books that will motivate me and drive me to never give up!
There will be hard times building this business, but I need to keep my desires before me so that the power of why I
am doing this overrides any fear that I may encounter. This business is as much about self improvement as anything else.
I am not the person I was when I began my MLM business.
I read the corporate message board several times a week, I stay informed
of what's new. I am first a student, then a teacher. I educate myself on my products, my compensation plan, and my company website.
I stay in contact with my sponsor daily through email and at least weekly
by phone. I ASK questions, so that I know every answer. I don't want her to do it for me, I want to know how to do it myself, so
that I can then teach others to do the same. I don't wait for her to come to me --- I go to her with my goals and ask her to
help me achieve them.
I actively participate on our online discussion and support group. I read
the messages daily and I learn from my downline as much as they learn from me. I am fully engaged in my business and my downline.
Then mostly, I put on blinders --- I don't look at the outcome
cause I can't control that. I just be sure I show up to do the task everyday cause I can control that. I work
some EVERYDAY. This is my business and the vehicle to my dreams, I give it the respect it deserves and don't treat it like a
hobby that can be set aside when I am not feeling in the mood.
I don't see where my business is today ... but see the VISION of where it
WILL BE one day.
I ignored that I was spending more than I was making in the beginning. I realized
it's an investment in my family's future and I have to be willing to commit and that means financially as well.
I ignored that others were achieving faster than me. I just continue to do the
best I can.
I ignored that my husband didn't always believe. MLM marketing was new to him.
Then I TRUSTED my sponsor --- even when I didn't BELIEVE.
My business isn't fully where I want it to be -- BUT I know that if I NEVER give up
--- it will be MORE than I ever wanted it to be.
